One home for an independent hip-hop artist's music, fans, and merch

Hip-hop artist Justin Starling wanted to pull his fans from scattered platforms into one place. We built his website, a fan text-alert system, and a Shopify merch store, and handled his SEO and Facebook Pixel setup.

The project

The challenge

Justin Starling, an independent hip-hop artist from Long Island, New York, had fans spread across various platforms and wanted to funnel that traffic to one place. He wanted the experience to be engaging but simple, and he wanted to turn his fan base into revenue.

For an independent artist, followers on social platforms are rented: the platform's algorithm decides who sees each post. A website, a text list, and a store are channels the artist owns, so every fan who joins is someone he can reach directly.

What we built

Our Corpus Christi team built Justin a website that hosted his music, videos, and other content. The design started from images in his existing content portfolio, and we added graphic design to carry that look through the rest of the site.

We also built a text-alert system for his fans. Whenever Justin dropped new content, it broadcast each fan's preferred links, so a release reached people directly instead of depending on a social feed.

To turn fans into revenue, we built a Shopify storefront for his merchandise. Our Lubbock web design team optimized his SEO on Google, and we set up Facebook Pixel (now Meta Pixel), which tracks what site visitors do so social media ads can reach and measure the right audience.

The result

  • Justin reported that the text alerts dramatically improved fan engagement and helped him retain new fans at a higher rate.
  • His rankings rose across various search results, making him easier to find online.
  • Fans had one place for his music, videos, merch, and new-release alerts.

Where AI takes it next

How we'd extend this product with today's AI — the same thinking we bring to every client roadmap.

  1. 01

Smarter drops: segment the text list by what each fan engages with, such as streams, videos, or merch, and let AI draft each message and pick the best send time for each segment.

  2. 02

Short-form clips on autopilot: AI cuts each new video into captioned vertical clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, each pointing back to the website.

  3. 03

Merch tested before it's printed: generate design concepts from Justin's existing artwork, let a slice of the text list vote, and produce only the winners on demand.

  4. 04

Generative engine optimization (GEO): structure his bio, discography, and links so that when someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini about Long Island hip-hop artists, his site is the source the answer cites.
