How we work

Assess. Prioritize. Build. Scale.

A simple, repeatable method that keeps every AI dollar tied to a measurable result — and keeps the same team accountable from the first interview to the shipped product.

The four steps

  1. 01

    Assess

    Weeks 1–3

Interviews, data review, workflow mapping and a baseline of the KPIs that matter.

We sit with the people who do the work, map how jobs actually move through your business, review your systems and data, and measure a baseline for the numbers you care about — hours, response times, margins, conversion, cash.

    • You get
    • KPI baseline
    • Workflow & systems map
    • Five-pillar readiness score
  2. 02

    Prioritize

    Week 3

An ROI-ranked AI roadmap: impact × feasibility × risk, with a payback estimate for each item.

Every opportunity gets scored on impact, feasibility and risk, then ranked by expected return. You see what each one costs, what it should move, and how long it should take to pay back — so you fund the right things in the right order.

    • You get
    • ROI-ranked roadmap
    • Quick wins you can start now
    • Budget & payback model
  3. 03

    Build

    2–12 weeks each

Automations, agents, dashboards, integrations and custom software, shipped in short cycles.

The same team that designed the roadmap builds it. We ship in two-week cycles, put human review where the stakes are high, and document everything so you own what we build — code, data, prompts and all.

    • You get
    • Working software every cycle
    • Human-in-the-loop guardrails
    • Documentation & handover
  4. 04

    Scale

    Ongoing

Training, adoption, monitoring and continuous optimization against the baseline.

AI only pays if people use it. We train your team, monitor quality and cost, run evaluations as models change, and review results against the original baseline every quarter.

    • You get
    • Team training & playbooks
    • Monitoring, evals & cost control
    • Quarterly ROI reviews

Principles

The rules we hold ourselves to.

  • 01

    ROI before code

Nothing gets built without a baseline, a target metric and a payback estimate. If we can't make the math work, we'll tell you.

  • 02

    You own everything

Your code, your data, your prompts, your accounts. We document as we go, and you can take it in-house whenever you want.

  • 03

    Humans stay in charge

We design AI to draft, sort, summarize and suggest — with people approving anything that's high-stakes or customer-facing.

  • 04

    Security and privacy by default

Approved tools, least-privilege access, vendor review and data handling rules are part of the build, not an afterthought.

  • 05

    Plain English

Clear proposals, clear reports, clear invoices. You'll always know what we're doing, why, and what it's worth.

  • 06

    Small cycles, real progress

Working improvements every couple of weeks beat a big-bang launch every time. You see value early and steer as we go.

FAQ

Working with NextGen Code

Still have a question? Ask us directly.

Where should we start if we've never worked with an AI consultant?

Start with the AI Opportunity Assessment. In two to three weeks we analyze your operations, finances, marketing and data, then give you an ROI-ranked roadmap with quick wins you can start immediately. If you want a lighter first step, take the free online AI Readiness Assessment to see where you stand across the five readiness pillars.

Do we have to sign a long contract?

Not necessarily. Assessments and build projects are fixed in scope, so you know the deliverable and the timeline before you start. Retainers are monthly, and we size them to the work you actually need. We'd rather earn the next engagement than lock you in.

Who will we actually work with?

A small senior team: a lead consultant who owns the relationship and the roadmap, plus the analysts and engineers who do the work. The people who analyze your business are the same people who build the solution, so nothing gets lost in a handoff.

Who owns what you build?

You do. Code, data, prompts, documentation and accounts belong to your company, and we set up systems in your accounts wherever possible. If you ever want to bring the work in-house, everything you need is already documented.

How do you measure whether an AI project worked?

Before we build, we record a baseline for the metric the project is meant to move — hours per week, response time, conversion rate, error rate, margin. After launch we track the same metric and report the difference, along with what the system costs to run.
